Accessibility Helps Everyone

Screenshot of Element Inspector for an image with no ALT text.

I couldn’t understand how the bottom pair related to the other three or the article summary (tweeted by @BillGates), stating Ebola is “a caregiver’s disease” so I right-clicked and chose “Inspect Element” hoping to find some enlightening ALT text explaining or describing the graph and it’s message. No such luck. So, the sight-impaired and the stupid lose because nobody thought about accessibility.

For the record, I put it together while writing the previous paragraph. The caregivers of OECD are affected a bajillion times more than oodles of countries put together. See? I’m not that stupid. It’s all the designer’s fault–totally not mine.
